What Does It Actually Take to Get Good at Social Selling?

Not a following. A practice — built out of preparation, listening, filming, feedback, and repetition.

The idea that social selling belongs to naturally charismatic people is one of the more unhelpful stories in this industry. It suggests the skill is fixed, and that the people who are good at it were simply more comfortable on camera from the start.

In our experience the strongest reps share habits rather than traits. They know the product well enough to answer a hard question in a DM without improvising. They ask more than they announce. They read the second message, the one that reveals the real objection.

They also take feedback without treating it as a verdict. A note on a hook that did not land is information, not a judgment, and the people who apply it improve faster than the people who defend the cut.

Resilience matters too, though not in a dramatic sense. It mostly means the fifteenth reply of the day gets the same care as the first, and the clip that flopped gets reshot tomorrow.

If you are considering this kind of work, the useful question is not whether you are naturally persuasive. It is whether you are willing to practice something in public, be corrected, and try it again the next day.
